Founder & CFO, Dream Home Roofing
Hamilton, New Jersey

I am Kim Tonti, Co-Founder and CFO of Dream Home Roofing in Hamilton, NJ. I am a second-generation roofer. My father worked roofs before me, so I grew up around ladders, tear-offs, and shop talk at the kitchen table. That is where I learned that a good roof is not really a product. It is a decision, and the person selling it to you should be someone who understands both sides of that decision, the business side and what is actually happening up there on your house. I have been on thousands of roofs across New Jersey and Pennsylvania, in every kind of weather and every kind of house. I can usually tell what is happening on a roof before I set foot on the ladder. Granules in the gutter tell me one story. A ceiling stain in the wrong spot tells me another. A ventilation problem is often visible from the sidewalk if you know where to look. That kind of instinct only comes from years of doing the work, and it is the reason I do not theorize on this blog. Everything I write here comes from what I have actually seen. Dream Home Roofing is GAF Master Elite-certified, a designation held by fewer than 2% of roofers in the country. We are veteran-owned and woman-owned. We have completed more than 10,000 roofs across New Jersey with a zero-complaint record at the Better Business Bureau. Our crews are in-house, never subcontracted, because I want the same people who trained under us to be the ones on your roof. We also handle complete solar panel removal and reinstallation as part of a roof replacement, which almost no other roofer in the region will take on. Most homeowners with solar panels only find that out the hard way, when they start calling around for quotes and nobody will touch the job. The homeowners I write for are usually not roofing experts. They are people who did not plan on making this decision this year. Maybe a storm came through. Maybe a slow leak finally forced the issue. Maybe the solar company they trusted disappeared and left them with panels no one wants to work around. Whatever the situation is, the last thing they need is a sales pitch dressed up as a blog post. So on this blog, I try to write the way I talk to homeowners at the kitchen table. I cover the decisions people are actually facing: repair versus full replacement, storm damage and how insurance claims really work, asphalt shingle options, ventilation, gutters, siding, financing, and solar integration. I tell you what I would tell a neighbor, even when the answer is not what you were hoping to hear.
